Cayton: 5th Sept: Looking Good

Looks good for this weekend so hopefully we'll finally have a good event. Check in at south carpark 9am. I'll accept entries on the day but would be helpful to know before hand, so either use the online entry form or drop us an email.

Remember: lots of prizes + points for the finals
See you there :)

Cayton Postponed

Sorry guys...another great forecast has slipped away and it's looking like small wind chop for the weekend. I'm feeling pretty disappointed about having to postpone again. I don't want to cancel completely as there's a really active canoe club in Scarborough and there's quite a lot of interest in trying out competition.

So...the plan....

With the Worlds coming up and lots of work commitments as well as the summer and prospect of more flat weeks. i'm going to shift the Cayton Bay event to the weekend originally scheduled for the finals: 5/6th September. All going well with the Permit application, Tynemouth will be 2 weeks after and the finals 2 weeks after that.

As usual keep an eye on the blog for updates. But I will be requiring fresh entries for the events to get an idea of numbers. Either just in a quick email. Or using the online entry (just select the venue you are planning to attend...ignore the date).

I'm going to try and get an update in CKUK to try and get the word out, but once again, anything you can do to help would be great.

Many thanks, and sorry again for the inconvenience....very annoying i know!

Take it easy

Forecast Looks Good for Cayton This Weekend

The forecast is shaping up pretty nicely at the moment. 3ft with light offshore winds should make for a really nice event. I'm trying to get an idea on numbers so if you're planning in coming along please can drop me a quick email at: info@coldwaterkayaksurf.co.uk

See you there :)

Also, congratulations to Ryan who won the Gath Helmet for best newcomer. And thanks to Alan and Kim Owen for driving all the way from Herefordshire for the event.

Tynemouth Event Postponed until Autumn (ammended)

As you're probably aware, we're having a really bad surf drought here on the East Coast. Unfortunately there isn't any sign of change in the near future. It's really unseasonal and certainly the worst spring anyone around here can remember. We're going to keep the Pease Bay event and Cayton re-run as they are for now but with various other events coming up we've made the decision to shift the Tynemouth event to Autumn. There's a lot of work to be done, re-arranging permits etc but we'll get the new event dates up on the blog as soon as possible.

Thanks to everyone (especially the competitors and sponsors) who is supporting the event. This will be great event....when we get some waves!

Tynemouth Event Postponed

Unfortunately we've been forced to postpone the event due to the severe lack of surf. It's really unseasonal and very disappointing but that's the nature of the beast i guess. We're rescheduling for the next weekend: MAY 8-9th so hopefully (again) something might just shape up.

Cayton Bay event postponed till June 20th/21st

Unfortunately the surf has defeated us again, so we're postponing until 20th/21st June

That means that Tynemouth will now be the opening event of the Series. If the waves shape up it'll be a great event with loads of prizes...don't forget there's a Gath Helmet (http://www.gathsports.com/) for the highest placed newcomer at each event!

Zach at runandjump has made up the banner for the Series which looks great...thanks

Cayton Event Postponed until 11th April

I've spent the last few hours trawling through the internet in hope of finding a good forecast or some evidence of a Tsunami heading our way but unfortunately it's looking pretty flat. There's a small chance that something might shape up for Sunday but it certainly wouldn't be the high performance contest we'd hoped for. So for now we're postponing until next weekend. Another decision on running will be posted Thursday evening. If next week fails to shape up we'll reschedule for later in the year.

When we get waves this is going to be a great event with prizes from Gath, runandjump, Buff and Nookie (and don't forget that cash prize for the final!). RunandJump are making up some nice banners and t-shirts and Canoe&Kayak magazine are going to run articles following each event.

Good things come to those who wait!

1 week to go

Only a week to go until the 1st event of the Coldwater Series 2009. If you haven't yet entered don't worry you can enter on the day but it does help to have entries in before hand. RunandJump are making up the banners and t-shirts this week and will be coming up to the event. There's a big box of prizes from Nookie and we're ready to roll. The long range forecast is looking a bit sketchy at the moment but hopefully it'll shape up. Watch this space for competition updates (a final decision will be posted Thursday evening).

Run&Jump providing Free T-shirts for finals

Just heard from Zach at RunandJump Clothing. They're going to put a design together and give free t-shirts to all the competitors qualifying for the finals event at Druridge. Big thanks to the Run&Jump crew. Check out their website here.

Entry Form Problems Fixed

A couple of people have emailed to say the entry form kept saying 'invalid input'. For the technical minded this was to with an anti-spam script. I've removed that and as far as i can tell it's all working smoothly. Drop us an email: info@coldwaterkayaksurf.co.uk if you have any problems.
